Jean-Marie Muyango, Inganzo & Ben Ngabo play at the Brighton Dome 11th June 2005

On 11th June rYico organised a concert with some of Rwanda's finest musicians and dancers. The concert was a great success and was enjoyed by many people from Brighton and Hove as well as many Rwandese from across the UK.

A massive thank you to everyone involved and particular thanks to the Dome, Stagestruck, Brighton and Hove Council and Arts Council England. Click here for photos...


Sussex University Talks 21st April 2005

H.E. Ambassador Rosemary Museminali, Investigative journalist, Linda Melvern and Major Stefan Stec, a Major in UNAMIR, gave talks and held question and answer's at Sussex University. Their talks were followed by Eric Kabera's film Keepers of Memory, a documentary testament to the survivors of the genocide. Union Coffee Roasters provided coffee which was served in Library Square and the Institute of Development Studies all day. The response to the day was enthusiastic and well received. Many thanks to Rosemary, Linda and Stefan for your incredibly informative and moving contributions.


Lucent's 3 Peak Challenge June 2005

Afrobase@The Volks 23rd April 2005

Creators of Afrobase on Totallyradio.com, John Warr, Guy Morley and Miles Cleret very kindly donated the proceeds of this club night to rYico. It was a brilliant and funky afro-latino night with amazing DJs and a great turnout. A big big thanks to the Afrobase crew!


Cowley Club Sunday lunch and jumble sale 17th April & 30th April 2005

rYico were invited to cook Rwandan food to raise money for their project in Rwanda. Food included matoke (savoury bananas), ichoo (cabbage dish), ibishimbo (beans) and umucheri (rice). The Cowley Club also offered all of the proceeds of their weekly jumble sale to rYico which was a great success. Many thanks to everyone that came along and to the Cowley Club in Brighton for having us.

Kate ran for rYico March 2005

Swindon based Kate Cady ran the Reading Half Marathon on Sunday 6th March to raise money for rYico. UK trustees in Rwanda November 2004

Three rYico trustees from the UK have visited Rwanda to meet their fellow trustees in Kigali and to follow the latest developments in the project planning.

Over the past 6 months rYico has been raising our profile in Rwanda, developing our plans for the youth centre and registering as an Non-Governmental Organisation.


5 Computers for rYico's youth centre January 2005

On January 29th, members of rYico joined members of RUGO to fill a container for shipment to Rwanda.

rYico were able to send 5 computers which will be available for training and IT use when the centre opens later this year. Many thanks to RUGO (Rwanda UK Goodwill Organisation) for letting us squeeze them in!
